Easton Schools Closed Monday Due To Nor'easter

Easton storm update: schools were closed as half of town remained without power following a devastating nor'easter.

EASTON, MA — Easton schools will be closed Monday as half of town remained without power after a devastating nor'easter. As of Sunday at 5 p.m., there were 5,178 still without power in Easton. That figure represents 52 percent of town.

Outages were expected to last until at least Monday. An Easton storm shelter was opened at Olmsted Richardson School on Lothrop Street.

Friday's storm knocked out power to more than 450,000 across Massachusetts. The storm was blamed for the death of a Plympton man after a tree fell on him. More than 150,000 were still without power Sunday afternoon statewide, mostly in Southeastern Massachusetts and Cape Cod. More than a dozen emergency shelters remained open.
