Easton Sewer Project To Continue Impacting Traffic This Week
Five Corners Sewer Construction Project continues this week in Easton, with detours, road closures and water discoloration expected.
EASTON, MA — The second phase of the Five Corners Sewer Construction Project will continue this week, and drivers in that area are asked to expect traffic delays and detours, particularly during daytime hours.
Construction crews with C. Naughton Corp are scheduled to install the 10-inch gravity sewer pipe on Foundry Street this week, through the intersection of Poquanticut Avenue and then toward South Street. Crews are expected to reach the Poquanticut Avenue intersection by mid-week, according to public works. This works involves excavation and larger equipment, which may cause frequent traffic stops and delay during daylight hours.
While this work is underway, traffic may be diverted around the work zone through South Street to Poquanticut Avenue and then back onto Foundry Street, as needed. This detour will only apply during construction work hours and will only be used when construction equipment is blocking a portion of Foundry Street.

The portion of South Street between Foundry and Highland streets will remain closed to through-traffic, public works officials said. In addition, eastbound traffic will no longer be allowed on Foundry Street, seven days a week, 24 hours a day — a left turn from Poquanticut Avenue onto Foundry street is no longer possible, and local traffic from South Street, Gaslight Lane, Lamplighter Lane and homes along Foundry Street will be directed west when driving onto Foundry Street.
People in the surrounding area might see discolored or cloudy tap water, as crews make new water main connections and might disturb naturally occurring minerals and sediments in the lines. C. Naughton Corp, the contractor on the job, will be working closely with Easton Water Department to minimize these issues, according to town officials. However, it's not always possible to eliminate all discoloration. If problems occur, residents and business managers are asked to call the construction hotline at 888-527-6797.
