Easton Students Graded Among Highest in U.S.: Report

Easton students' educational attainment was ranked 2 grades above average on a national report.

EASTON, MA — Easton students were ranked well above their peers, according to a new study.

Easton students were found to be 2 grades ahead of the average United States student, Stanford researchers found.

The researchers reported high educational attainment is strongly correlated with wealth—a "stubborn" reality, they said.

The study was based on sixth-graders' reading and math scores.

The study reported the median income in Easton is $119,000. Eighty-six percent of students are white, 3 percent are Hispanic, 4 percent are black, and 7 percent are Asian/other.

The New York Times further analyzed the results, finding, "Children in the school districts with the highest concentrations of poverty score an average of more than four grade levels below children in the richest districts."
