How Much Crime Takes Place in Easton?

New statistics were released by the FBI last week.

31 violent crimes were reported in Easton last year, up by six violent crimes in 2011, according to according new statistics released by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

The FBI's annual Uniform Crime Report includes information submitted by local law enforcement agencies. The information is compiled and released to the public in the fall of the year that follows the reported year. Violent crime, as defined by the report, includes murder and nonnegligent manslaughter, forcible rape, robbery, and aggravated assault.

In 2012, Easton reported five forcible rapes, six robberies and 20 aggravated assaults.

In addition to violent crimes, Easton reported 259 property crimes in 2012. There were 81 burglaries, 162 instances of larceny or theft and 16 motor vehicle thefts.
