
Virginia E. Rogers, of North Easton, passed away late Sunday evening, December 1, 2013 just 2 hours shy of her 94th birthday. She was the wife of the late Alfred G. Rogers and the daughter of the late Anthony and Virginia (Carreiro) DeCouto.
Raised and educated in Easton, she was a 1937 graduate of Oliver Ames High School and a communicant of the Immaculate Conception Church where she served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was employed by Stonehill College as a payroll bookkeeper for many years and upon her retirement she worked at Caritas Good Samaritan Hospital as a volunteer.
Her hobbies included knitting, rug braiding, cross-word puzzles, and she was an avid Red-Sox fan. Her travels which brought her a great deal of enjoyment were throughout the United States, Canada, and Europe.
Mrs. Rogers was the sister of her late brothers Francis E. DeCouto, Herbert P. DeCouto, Arthur W. DeCouto, and James E. DeCouto. She leaves her sister, Alice F. Howard of North Easton, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her funeral will be held on Friday, December 6 from the J. Frank Conley Funeral Home, 138 Belmont St. (Rte123), Brockton, MA at 9 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian burial at Immaculate Conception Church, 193 Main Street, Easton at 10 a.m. Interment will be held at the Immaculate Conception Cemetery, Canton Street, No. Easton, MA.
