An Open Letter Regarding Our Family-Run Summer Camp
We at Maplewood, stand by our business practices and take great pride in offering an inclusive community for campers and staffers alike.
Dear Easton Patch,
We were saddened to read a recent opinion piece posted to the Easton Patch Web page along with the Easton Patch Facebook page titled “Maplewood Country Day Camp Discriminated Against My Son”.
Since our founding more than 50 years ago, Maplewood Country Day Camp has provided extraordinary and meaningful camp experiences for more than 25 thousand campers and over five thousand staff members. Just ask the countless parents and even grandparents who once attended Maplewood and now watch happily as their own children and grandchildren climb aboard a Maplewood bus every summer.

We stand by our business practices and take great pride in offering an inclusive community for campers and staffers alike. We are always willing to explore reasonable accommodations when we are made aware of such need. We care deeply about respecting the integrity and rights of all members of the Maplewood community, including past campers and staff. It is for this reason, out of respect for the privacy of the former Senior Counselor in Training mentioned on your web page, that we will not be commenting on the specific details mentioned in the post. At the same time, an accusation of discrimination is a very serious matter. In the interest of reaching viewers who may have come across this post over the past few days, we feel compelled to defend our reputation against a false and unfair accusation. We look forward to continuing Maplewood’s mission of providing exceptional camp and school-year programs and employment opportunities.
