Anyone who took a tour around Queset Gardens behind Ames Free Library was able to see the ice sculptures, including:

  • An Eiffel Tower sculpture that lit up at night
  • A snow globe with a bouquet of roses suspended in the ice
  • A girl chasing a butterfly with a net
  • An oversized snowflake
  • An oversized timeplace
  • A sculpture of Saint Valentine

The purpose of the ice sculpture display was to encourage families to go outside and enjoy nature, said Karen Rich Cacciapuoti, President of Friends of Easton Public Gardens.

“It doesn’t matter if you got two feet of snow on the ground or one inch. Go out and enjoy it,” she said.

The opening night of the sculptures on Valentine’s Day also featured a huge dance party inside Oakes Ames Memorial Hall, 3 Barrows St. in North Easton.

Residents dressed in their warmest fleeces for a Valentine’s Day dance party and strolled through a display of the professionally made ice sculptures.

Cacciapuoti said the party was almost a sell out and “nobody wanted to go home.”
