Prep Star from Easton Makes Pitch for MLB Draft

Right-hander Troy Whitty may get picked somewhere in the middle rounds of the Major League Baseball Draft, which begins today.

Troy Whitty, a 6-foot-5 right-handed pitcher from Easton who will graduate tomorrow from the Dexter School in Brookline, may get selected in the Major League Baseball Draft somewhere in the middle rounds, according to New England Baseball Journal, which ranks him as the eighth best prospect in New England.

Whitty, who is signed to play next year at Louisiana State University, throws a fastball that is consistently clocked in the 90 MPH range while also using a changeup and curveball to keep hitters off-balance.

He spent the first three years of his high school career at Oliver Ames, where he had an ERA of 0.90 his junior year.
