Stonehill College Student Killed in Boating Accident Abroad

EASTON, MA – A Stonehill College student was killed in a boating accident in Denmark Saturday, reports say. Linsey Malia, an Easton resident and honors student at Stonehill, died when a jet ski crashed into a boat carrying her and several other students in Copenhagen Harbor.

Malia had been studying in Denmark through DIS – Study Abroad. According to a DIS statement, a second student was killed in the crash and five others were injured.

According to a statement released to media outlets, Malia was a peer mentor, teaching assistant, work study student and volunteer on campus. She was also one of four students who played school mascot Ace the Skyhawk at athletic events.
