Brookline Ave. One-Way Pushed Back A Week
Due to ongoing construction at the Muddy River site in the Fenway neighborhood, Brookline Avenue will become a one-way road, which project managers say will help ease traffic congestion in the area.

So far, the Muddy River construction project has done little to disrupt normal traffic flow in the Fenway neighborhood, aside from some residual traffic jams and lane closures.
But a big change to the area's traffic flow will soon be in place. Last week, officials announced on September 16 that Brookline Avenue will be changed to a one-way street inbound between the Riverway Connector and Park Drive.  However, over the weekend, officials pushed that date back to September 23rd.Â
"There will be four lanes of traffic inbound as there is now," said Michael Keegan, the project manager for the construction for the Army Corps of Engineers. "However, the outbound traffic lanes (there are two now) will be closed."
This means that vehicles traveling outbound from Boylston Street and Brookline Avenue  will need to turn right onto Park Drive and travel around the traffic circle known as the old Sears Parking lot to continue outbound on Brookline Avenue.Â
"There will be variable message boards installed this week to warn motorists of the upcoming traffic modification both on-site and off the project site to explain that there may be traffic delays and that they may want to seek an alternative route," said Keegan.
