Curt Schilling Says He's Going to Run for President 'Soon'

Schilling 2020? Don't rule it out, he says.

Off-hand comment, or actual plan?

Red Sox icon and fired ESPN commentator Curt Schilling said in a series of Facebook comments Sunday he's planning to run for president "soon."

ESPN gave him the pink slip this spring after the outspoken conservative shared an offensive meme, one in a series of social media posts that landed the former Sox pitcher in his familiar hot water. He soon after endorsed Donald Trump for president, perhaps due to their shared interest in creating controversies on Twitter.

To him, Schilling replied, "I am going to run, soon."

Pressed for details, he added:

Schilling has also, in at least one other social media post, hinted at a run for Congress. In a previous Twitter comment, he suggested a campaign for U.S. Rep. Joe Kennedy III's seat could be in the cards.

"Wait one more cycle, need some things to get done first," he tweeted in April of this year.

That trajectory sounds improbable at best in blue-as-can-be Massachusetts. Then again, expecations for what is and isn't politically possible could well be turned upside down in a post-Trump world.

We here at Patch don't spend our days rooting through the comment threads on Schilling's Facebook posts, so due credit for pointing this out goes to the New York Daily News.
