Local Company Makes a Difference in the Boston Area
Biopharmaceutical company EMD Serono, Inc., holds community service day around the city; hundreds of employees participate.

On May 12, more than 350 employees from EMD Serono, Inc., a biopharmaceutical company with office sites in Rockland and Billerica, participated in the company’s first-ever, company-wide community service day, according to a press statement.
EMD Serono encouraged each of its employees to be an #EMDSeronoDifferenceMaker by volunteering at one of 12 nonprofit, community-based sites in the Boston area. In addition to volunteering time, EMD Serono field team representatives from across the U.S also donated old coats to Goodwill, Salvation Army, Big Brother Big Sister, and American Red Cross, making the initiative a united volunteer cause.
“EMD Serono has a long-standing commitment to giving back and contributing to the communities in which we work and live,” said Paris Panayiotopoulos, president and managing director of EMD Serono. “Giving our employees an opportunity to volunteer and see the difference we can make in a single day was an inspiring way to impact change.”
