Red Sox' Steven Wright Arrested, Charged With Domestic Violence

The 2016 All-Star was arrested Friday night near his Tennessee home.

BOSTON, MA — Red Sox pitcher Steven Wright faces two charges related to domestic violence after an incident with his wife Friday night in Tennessee.

Police records show Wright was arrested at 9:25 p.m. outside his Tennessee home and charged with domestic assault and prevention of a 911 call. He was released from jail Saturday morning.

In a statement obtained by NBC Sports Boston released by Wright's lawyer, Alex Little, and attributed to the Wright family, Wright "said things he deeply regrets" but "did not raise his hand." The argument was "purely emotional," according to the statement.
