Red Sox Game In Minneapolis Postponed After Police Shooting
The first game of Boston's series against the Minnesota Twins was postponed "out of respect" Monday following the death of Daunte Wright.

BOSTON, MA — The Boston Red Sox' game in Minneapolis was postponed shortly before the first pitch Monday afternoon.
The Minnesota Twins, who the Sox were expected to begin their series against, said the postponement was "out of respect" for the developing situation in the Minneapolis suburb of Brooklyn Center following the fatal police shooting of 20-year-old Daunte Wright.
"Out of respect for the tragic events that occurred yesterday in Brooklyn Center, and following the additional details in this evolving situation, the Minnesota Twins have decided it is in the best interests of our fans, staff, players and community to not play today's game," according to a statement from the Twins.

"The Minnesota Twins organization extends its sympathies to the family of Daunte Wright," the statement continued.
Protests erupted in Brooklyn Center overnight following Wright's death, prompting a curfew from Mayor Mike Elliott. National Guard troops, who were activated in February to maintain order during the murder trial against former Minneapolis officer Derek Chauvin in the death of George Floyd, were called to curb vandalism Sunday night.
