Red Sox Pitcher Carjacked, Shot Fired

Brian Johnson was not injured in the attack in Cocoa Beach, Florida.

Boston Red Sox Pitcher Brian Johnson was victim of an armed carjacking early Friday in Cocoa Beach, FL, police said.

The carjacker approached Johnson’s car outside a convenience store at about 2 a.m. and fired a single shot into the ground while the 24-year-old pitcher was still in the car, Florida Today reported. Johnson was not injured in the attack.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office soon arrested Johnathan Oshaun Gould, 31, charging him with carjacking, aggravated assault, persons engaged in a criminal offense having weapons, possession of a firearm and ammunition by a convicted felon and violation of felony probation, the newspaper reported.

The sheriffs caught Gould after a foot chase near State Road 520 and State Road 538 in Cocoa Beach.
