Red Sox World Series Opponent Determined
After a Game 7 in the NLCS, Boston will play another historic franchise in the World Series.

BOSTON, MA — The Red Sox will play the Los Angeles Dodgers in a World Series for the first time. Los Angeles beat Milwaukee, 5-1, in Game 7 of the National League Championship Series Saturday night.
Despite the newness of the World Series matchup, the series will be dripping in history. Fenway Park is the oldest ballpark in Major League Baseball, while Dodger Stadium is the third-oldest stadium. (For those scoring at home, Wrigley Field in Chicago is the second-oldest stadium.)
The Dodgers have won six World Series, the last in 1988. The Red Sox have won eight championships, the last in 2013.

That Boston championship came a year after Boston shook up its franchise by trading Josh Beckett, Adrian Gonzalez, and Carl Crawford to Los Angeles. The Red Sox received little more than payroll relief, but it was an all-time salary dump that allowed the team to reset for a championship run.
The Dodgers begin come to Fenway Park for Game 1 Tuesday night. See the full World Series schedule here.
