The 30-year-old third baseman suffered a serious leg injury last season.

BOSTON, MA — Will Middlebrooks, who won a World Series championship with Boston in 2013, will retire from Major League Baseball, according to The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham. Middlebrooks, 30, suffered a serious leg injury while in Spring Training with Philadelphia last season.
The third baseman showed good power with Boston in his first two seasons, smacking 32 home runs in over just 615 at-bats. He played for four teams in the next four years, hitting only 11 home runs.
