Drive-In Movie Pop Up Opens At Patriot Place
Patriot Place and Showcase Cinemas collaborated to open a drive-in movie theater pop-up in Foxborough.
FOXBOROUGH, MA — Drive-in movie theaters were part of Monday's phase of reopening the Massachusetts economy amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The only drive-ins left in the state are in Mendon and Wellfleet, but a temporary one has opened at Patriot Place in Foxborough to let people in the area in on the fun.
Patriot Place and Showcase Cinemas have collaborated to show four movies over the next month. The first one, "Indiana Jones: Raiders of the Lost Ark," was scheduled for May 30 and already sold out. All ticket proceeds benefited the Foxborough Food Pantry for this show.

"Drive-ins are a big part of Showcase Cinemas’ 80-year history as the company was one of the first theater chains to introduce and embrace the concept throughout the 20th century," Mark Malinowski, Showcases's marketing vice president said. "Therefore, we are excited to bring our history full circle with this new concept that sold out its first show in less than 24 hours. This will be our first step towards reopening Showcase Cinemas with new health and safety protocols in the coming weeks."
