Former Alabama, Patriots Running Back Dies of ALS

A former New England Patriots player has lost his battle with ALS.

Kevin Turner, who played fullback for the team from 1992-94, passed away in his Vestavia Hills home, according to the Montgomery Advertiser.

A graduate of the University of Alabama, Turner was drafted by the Patriots in the third round of the 1992 NFL Draft. He played three seasons with the team before joining the Philadelphia Eagles in 1995.

In 2010, Turner was diagnosed with ALS and started the Kevin Turner Foundation to raise awareness and funds for ALS research.
