Foxboro House Of Pizza Owner Opening New Restaurant

When Sam's Place opens in Foxborough's downtown, the menu will feature pizza, salads, grilled foods, and a full service bar.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — A local pizza shop owner announced plans to open a new casual restaurant in Foxborough Center, which will feature pizza, salads, grilled foods, and a full service bar. The Board of Selectmen Tuesday night voted unanimously to approve the all-alcoholic serving license for Sam's Place, which is owned by the same person who runs Foxboro House of Pizza. Sam's Place will be located at 34 Central St.

Sam Bshay Labib, will operate the Sam's Place where New Life Upholstery used to be. Labib's attorney Jeffrey Lovely said Labib's plans for the restaurant are "small and casual." It's only going to take up the first floor of the two-story building, and will have 48 dining seats and 12 bar seats in the 1,500 square-foot space. For now, Labid plans to use the second floor for storage, but could later expand if he were to make it ADA compliant.

Given the how small the lot is, Sam's Place plans to use public parking in the downtown for its customers. Hours of operation are expected to be from 11 a.m. to midnight.

Lovely spoke highly of Labid's experience in the restaurant industry, and said his client isn't new to working in restaurants that serve alcohol.

"He's been in the food industry for quite a long time," Lovely said. "He doe have experience as the manager."

The experience Lovely referred to was at a restaurant in Westborough Labid managed, which had a full liquor license. Labid has also run the Foxborough House of Pizza for six years, and has become a popular guy in the community, according to Lovely. Several residents proved Lovely's statement true, coming out to offer kind rewards and support Labid's restaurant proposal.

"Not only is he (Labid) a reputable and honest businessman, but he gives back to the community," Donna McIntyre, of Margaret Road, said. "His heart is really here in the Town of Foxborough."

Labid said he appreciated the support from the board and the community and felt lucky to have so many residents as friends.

"I'm lucky,” Labid said. "I love Foxborough. I know everyone in Foxborough."

This was the first permit approved for Sam's Place. Other permits with the Board of Health and other boards are needed before Labid can open the new restaurant.
