The Foxborough Democratic Town Committee will host the May 6th event at 7:30 p.m. in the McGinty Room of the Foxborough Public Safety Building.

Editor's note: The following release was submitted by Foxborough Democratic Town Committee chair Dennis Naughton.
The Foxborough Democratic Town Committee (FDTC) will feature a speaker from the American Civil Liberties Union on May 6th to discuss the current dangers to our personal privacy here in Massachusetts and what we can do about them.
The event, which will be held at 7:30 p.m. in the McGinty Room of the Foxborough Public Safety Building, will focus on issues like police technologies - license plate readers, drones, location tracking and electronic surveillance.

The presentation will also describe a number of pieces of legislation that have been proposed in Massachusetts to address those potential threats to privacy. See privacysos.org/lawreform for some of the proposed bills.
Since this speaker was scheduled, the Foxborough Public Schools has announced a plan to install a surveillance system in the Foxborough schools. Money for this school surveillance project will come partly from grants, including one from the office of the Norfolk County DA’s office,  and partly from an appropriation request that will be made at the May 13th Annual Town Meeting. This local development will also be part of the discussion.
