Foxborough teenager Sean Davin was honored with the Invensys Foxboro Branch's Youth of the Year award at the Hockomock Area YMCA’s annual meeting and awards night last week for his leadership role working with children with and without disabilities.
Davin displayed a tremendous talent for inspiring other camp counselors on how to interact and support campers with disabilities, and most importantly, treat them like any other camper.

“My first summer as a Hockomock Y camp counselor was one I will never forget," Davin said. "Working in the Integration Department, I was able to apply skills that I have acquired over the past six years working with special needs children. It’s amazing to see the progress that these kids made throughout the summer and I am so glad I was able to help them along the way.”
At 12, Davin volunteered at the Spoke Collaborative, a program for children with special needs. He continued volunteering in Foxborough High School’s Best Buddies program. Davin discovered his passion for mentoring children with special needs, thus sparking his decision to volunteer and later become employed at the Hockomock Y, specifically in the areas of integration and camp.

Davin ensured all campers were included even if it meant jumping in the pool to be someone’s buddy or making up a game on the spot so everyone could play.
"I am blessed to have a job where I truly look forward to come to work every day," Davin said. "While at times my life has been flipped upside down, my Y family has always been here to help me no matter the circumstance. I am extremely honored to accept the youth of the year award.”
With Davin’s leadership and passion to make a difference, the Foxborough teen will continue to better his school, his Y and his community, one child at a time.
