GATRA Awarded State Grant To Expand Foxboro, Mansfield Services
State grants will support expanded services for buses in Foxborough, Mansfield and Plymouth.
FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Greater Attleboro Taunto Regional Transit Authority (GATRA) received a $217,200 state grant to expand services for buses in Foxborough and Mansfield. The grant is part of a $3.5 million package the Massachusetts Department of Transportation gave out for transportation authorities throughout the state. GATRA, which provides public transportation throughout Norfolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties, also received a $150,000 grant to expand services in Plymouth.
GATRA was selected because state transportation officials believe expanding services will increase ridership, serve a priority population, and provide cost savings or operational efficiencies.
"This grant program helps support regional transit authorities to launch projects to enhance their existing services and implement best practices," Gov. Charlie Baker said in a statement. "This funding will also help RTAs develop innovative plans to provide more reliable service to riders across the Commonwealth."
