FOXBOROUGH, MA — Country music star Kenny Chesney will delay his upcoming stadium tour another year amid the coronavirus pandemic. That means two shows at Gillette Stadium scheduled for this summer will not happen until 2022.

The "Chillaxification Tour," was originally scheduled for 2020 but was postponed because of the pandemic. But with the second postponement, it appears the tour will return under a new name and lineup next year, according to a news release on Chesney's website.

Chesney said he also wanted to wait for stadiums to be allowed full capacity before he tours again, so all tickets previously bought can be honored. In Massachusetts, just 12 percent capacity is allowed at stadiums right now.

"We have waited for so long, I can’t play knowing I would disappoint a portion of No Shoes Nation who wouldn’t be able to get into the stadiums and the amphitheaters," Chesney said in a statement. "There’s no way around that this year. As much I hate postponing further, I would hate telling people who waited we won’t be able to let them come due to capacity restrictions. That’s just not fair."

All tickets for the Chesney concerts will be honored for the delayed shows, and refunds are available if necessary. New dates for the tour are expected to be announced soon.
