Kraft's Foxborough Scholarship Winners Announced

Five Foxborough High School seniors received $5,000 scholarships from the Patriots Partners In Patriotism Fund.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — Partner's in Patriotism, the nonprofit arm of the Kraft Group, has awarded five graduating seniors from Foxborough High School with $5,000 scholarships. The scholarships recognized the students' commitment to community service and aims to help them out a little as they go on to college.

Julia Carangelo, Griffin Garber, James Harding, Jenna Pothier and Jakob Waryas were selected out of a field of 42 applicants. The recipients were each presented with a commemorative Partners in Patriotism Fund football personalized with their name and a congratulatory letter from Kraft Group Chairman and CEO Robert Kraft and President Jonathan Kraft. Additionally, the students and their families have been invited to attend the Partners in Patriotism Scholarship Awards reception held in a Gillette Stadium suite during the New England Patriots preseason home opener versus the Carolina Panthers on Thursday, Aug. 22.

  • Carangelo is the president of the National Honor Society, the historian for the Art National Honor Society, the publicity coordinator for the Spanish National Honor Society and an active member in clubs like Best Buddies, FHS Community Warriors, Navajo Water Club, History Club and the World Language Club. Outside of the classroom, Carangelo is a three-sport athlete in field hockey, swimming and spring track. In the community, she has donated her time to coaching youth field hockey, teaching religious education classes and tutoring students at the Ahern Middle School. She has also volunteered to make lunches for homeless shelters. She plans to study communications and digital arts, media and design at the University of Connecticut.
  • Garber has shown a commitment to community service through his involvement in clubs and activities throughout his high school career. As Vice President of the Foxboro Interact Club, Garber led a club activity to involve members in his Animal Rescue League Linen Drive with donations benefitting the Animal Rescue League. Garber has also served as a Cadet Airman for the Old Colony Cadet Squadron, Massachusetts Wing of the Civil Air Patrol, U.S. Air Force Auxiliary. Additionally, he has been an active member in the FHS DECA chapter, History Club and a four-year member of the FHS wrestling team. He plans to study marine transportation at the Massachusetts Maritime Academy.
  • Harding is a dedicated volunteer who enjoys giving back to his community. He has donated his time to events like the Foxboro Against Diabetes 5K, Clean Up Foxboro Day, Foxborough Recreation’s annual Mother-Son Dodgeball Tournament at Gillette Stadium and the Foxboro Farmers Market. He is an active member of the FHS History Club, DECA, Ski Club and Friends of Foxboro Conservation and was voted “Most School Spirit” by his class. Harding plans to attend Wentworth Institute of Technology to pursue a degree in civil engineering.
  • Pothier has assisted the Igo Elementary School for four years as a guidance assistant and Foxborough High School for one year as a freshman liaison mentor. She has also donated her time to community service programs like the school supply and backpack drive, the Susan G Komen Impact Ride, the food pantry, Cradles-To-Crayons, and Sign Language for Kids. Also an active student in school, she has been a member of the student council, executive board student council, Sign Language National Honor Society and the FHS field hockey and girls’ lacrosse teams. Pothier plans to study communications and business at Bryant University.
  • Waryas has compiled an impressive academic resume during his high school career and has been active in his community. He is the secretary of the National Honor Society, vice president of Class Council, a member of the math team, science club and the cross country, boys’ ice hockey and track and field teams. He has donated his time as a math tutor for Ahern Middle School students, a religious education teacher, a volunteer for the Foxboro Discretionary Fund, a blood donor, and making lunches for the homeless. He was also voted “Most Likely to be a Millionaire” by his class. Waryas plans to attend Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute to pursue a degree in biomedical engineering.
