New England Patriots, Cam Newton Agree On Contract: Report
The former MVP quarterback will try to help the Patriots move on from Tom Brady.

Former NFL MVP Cam Newton and the New England Patriots have agreed to a one-year contract, ESPN reported Sunday night. The contract is reportedly for cheap money and is heavy on incentives.
Newton, 31, had been the star quarterback of the Carolina Panthers since 2011. Carolina moved on from him this offseason after he suffered several injuries.
Newton was one of the league's dominant dual-threat quarterbacks until those recent injuries. He has thrown for 182 touchdowns and run for 58 more in his career.

The Patriots hope he'll regain some of that explosiveness as he joins a group of quarterbacks trying to replace Tom Brady. Newton will compete with youngster Jarrett Stidham and journeyman Brian Hoyer.
Brady quickly responded to news of Newton landing in New England. The Tampa Bay Buccaneer posted on Instagram, "Only thing we have to fear is Cam Newton on the Pats."

Newton was named NFL MVP in 2015 after leading the Panthers to a 15-1 record and eventually the Super Bowl, which Carolina lost to Denver.
The former No. 1 draft pick out of Auburn is also known as one of the league's most fashionable stars, wearing sometimes outrageous outfits before and after games.
