No Demolition Planned For Foxborough's Lafayette House

The restaurant's owner confirmed he has no plans to end the Lafayette House's nearly 250-year history.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Layfayette House will not be demolished and will remain in business, according to ownership.

Owner Ron Young told The Foxboro Reporter he never had any intention of razing the nearly 250-year-old, colonial-style restaurant, despite reports indicating he was.

The misunderstanding spawned from a demolition permit Young sought with the town's Historical Commission. The Route 1 restaurant was built in 1784 and used to have a stagecoach tavern and inn. Visitors included the likes of George Washington, Benjamin Franklin and Marquis de Lafayette.

But the demolition permit Young applied for was to make the property easier to sell if he chooses to in the future. Young told the Foxboro Reporter he has no intention of selling at this time.
