Nearly All Of Foxborough Is In The Dark

The electricity situation in Foxborough has only gotten worse during the day.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — High winds from Friday's storm have led nearly the entire town losing power.

As of 11 p.m. Friday, 7,771 of the 8,273 homes in Foxborough are in the dark, according to the National Gird outage map. The estimated restoration time was pushed back to as late as 10 p.m., but there is now no timeline for restoration. That leaves about 6 percent of the town with power.

Due to the outages, there have been several cancellations and closures around town. The YMCA on Mechanic Street has closed for the day and the Foxborough High School girls' basketball team's home tournament game against Stoughton has been moved to Saturday

National Grid says they have 500 line crews deployed and will work on restoring power in areas when it is safe to do so.

Foxborough is under a high wind warning. Winds are forecasted to hit the 25-25 mph range with gusts over 50 mph. Damage to trees, power lines, and property are possible with winds of this magnitude, according to the National Weather Service

New power outages should not be reported to the town. Instead, you should contact National Grid's 24-hour service directly at 1-800-465-1212 for all power outages, according to the Foxborough Facebook page.

Downed wires and trees should be reported to the Foxborough Police Department at 508-543-1212.

Anyone who needs a place to dry off or charge their cell phone can go to the McGinty Meeting Room at the Foxborough Public Safety Building.
