Patriots Bringing Back Cam Newton For Another Year: Report
Newton will get another shot in New England after a rocky first year.

Quarterback Cam Newton is returning to New England on a one-year deal, The Boston Globe's Jim McBride reported Friday morning. ESPN reported Newton will make $14 million.
Newton had a rocky first season as the Patriots, without quarterback Tom Brady, finished 7-9 and missed the playoffs for the first time since 2008.
The former MVP threw for 2,657 yards and eight touchdowns, running for a franchise-record 592 yards as a quarterback.

The Patriots could hope Newton rebounds with a more traditional training camp and a healthy core returning. The team was without several key players due to COVID, and injuries throughout the season took pieces like Julian Edelman and Rex Burkhead out of action.
Newton was also diagnosed with COVID-19 early in the season.
