Shovel Town Beer Garden In Foxborough Gets Extended Season
The beer garden is now allowed to operate until early September and may get extended through the end of October.

FOXBOROUGH, MA — The Foxborough Board of Selectmen last week unanimously approved extending the pouring license for Shovel Town Brewing's craft beer garden.
The beer garden, which operates on a vacant lot next to Conrad's Restaurant, opened in the spring. It's now allowed to stay open through Saturday, Sept 4. If the beer garden continues running smoothly without noise complaints or other issues, the board said it will likely extend its license again through the end of October.
"We've had no issues, no noise complaints that I'm aware of," Co-owner Frank Altieri told the board. "The crowd has been great, a lot of different mix of people that have come through, and we've heard nothing but good reviews from the customers that came through.

Board members took a wait-and-see approach when first allowing the beer garden to open, because the town had never done something like this before, and neighbors worried the beer garden would be noisy and cause potential safety issues.
"Everything we've asked them to do, they've done it," Town Manager William Keegan said. "We've had no complaints. If anything, we've had compliments."
