State Awards Foxborough Schools $41,000 For Safety Upgrades
The grant was part of a $7.2 million package awarded to 143 school districts across Massachusetts.
FOXBOROUGH, MA — State officials awarded Foxborough Public Schools a grant worth nearly $41,000 for safety upgrades, Gov. Charlie Baker's office announced Tuesday. The school district will use the money to purchase exterior door hardware, panic bars and a locking control system.
The grant was part of a $7.2 million package awarded to 143 school districts across Massachusetts.
"We must think about protecting our students and teachers from the threat of violence in the classroom," Secretary of Education James Peyser said. "By strengthening student supports, as well as upgrading security measures, we aim to do more to keep Massachusetts students safe."

The money for grants was allocated in a fiscal year 2018 supplemental budget passed by the Legislature. The bill also included $7.5 million in aid for school districts to hire social workers, mental health counselors and psychologists.
