Thunderstorm Alert For Southern New England
Latest Massachusetts, Rhode Island weather: a string of perfect beach days ends this week as a storm moves in.
If you're planning to hit the beach this week Tuesday is most definitely out. Thunderstorms will hit the region Tuesday morning starting at about 9. The storm will continue through the day and peak at about 2 p.m. with heavy rain and 10-15 mph winds. Road flooding is possible in southeastern Massachusetts and Rhode Island, according to the National Weather Service, which issued a hazardous weather alert for those areas.
"The large area of high pressure that kept much of the Northeast dry and comfortable this past weekend will slowly weaken and move out to sea during the early part of this week," AccuWeather meteorologist Mary Gilbert said in her forecast. The storms will be more severe to the south in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, among other areas.
Sunny skies return Wednesday through the rest of the week.

Tuesday's storm will be the strongest to hit the region since July's tornado that touched down on Cape Cod, blowing the roofs off buildings, uprooting trees and knocking out power to tens of thousands.
