Framingham Puts Downtown Parcel Up For Sale
The lot along Kendall Street will be subject to a competitive bidding process.

FRAMINGHAM, MA — Framingham is selling off a small parcel of land in the downtown area, according to bidding documents.
The 4,750 square-foot piece of land sits along Kendall Street at the corner of Richardson Court. The land is vacant, but sits between two multi-family homes, and across Kendall from the Alta Union apartment building.
The property is part of the city's central business district zone, which is set aside for transit-oriented development. That could include office, multi-family and retail uses — however, the City Council this week just affirmed a nine-month ban on multifamily development.

"The CB District is intended to generate a livable downtown environment with a strong presence of a multitude of activities that increase pedestrian access and reduce the number of auto-oriented uses," the zoning bylaw says.
According to the city, the parcel has an appraised value of about $45,000. The sale is subject to a competitive bidding process. Bidding will remain open through Oct. 16.
