Stilton Glass Property To Be Auctioned Off in January
Town of Framingham foreclosed on the Silton Glass property on Route 135, for unpaid property taxes.

In early 2015, the Town of Framingham foreclosed on the Silton Glass property at 612 Waverly Street (Route 135), for unpaid property taxes.
On January 28, at 2 p.m. there will be an auction of the property, Framingham Town Manager Bob Halpin told Selectmen in his report to the Board Tuesday night.
”We received authorization from Town Meeting in May 2015 to alter the shape of the lot taking advantage of the fact
that the Town-owned Cedar Swamp parcel was contiguous to Silton Glass, allowing for an exchange of land area,” said Halpin in his report.

The Town of Framingham is hoping the property will be redeveloped by a commercial buyer. The property is on the corner of Mellen Street and Route 135 near the Walgreens. The property is almost an acre.
There is a small Class II used car lot on a separate lot at the immediate intersection of Mellen and Waverley and this lot is abutted by the Silton Glass parcel on two sides.

MetroWest Auto Sales had previously relied on space within the Silton Glass building to provide office space which, while not technically on its actual parcel, was immediately adjacent.
“On the advice of tax title counsel the tenants within the Silton Glass building were asked to vacate the building. MetroWest Auto relocated its offices to the far side of Waverly St. They did not seek to renew their Class II license, in part because they are now viewed as being out of compliance with their operating permit. They have since indicated a desire to renew their license. The view of the staff is that they remain out of compliance,” said Halpin.
