He sent Native American Actress Sacheen Littlefeather in his place to decline the award. She read a prepared statement, which included Brando's opposition to the way American Indians were portrayed on films, calling out the Academy as responsible for the negative portrayal, according to history.com. Brando is the second actor to decline an Academy Award. Actor George C. Scott declined to accept two Oscars saying he didn't want to part of the Academy Awards.

4. As many of us are enjoying the NCAA Tournaments, it is a perfect time to look back and see the history. On this day in 1939, the first-ever NCAA Tournament was played between the University of Oregon and Ohio State University. March Madness has now become a household name.
