Beer, Pizza Popup Comes To Grafton's Houlden Farm

Houlden Farm (139 Old Westboro Road) has joined forces with the team behind Boston pizza restaurant, Flatbread Company, to debut The Sunflower Shanty, an outdoor beer garden and pizza concept that operates on weekends throughout the summer season. The six-tap beer garden was hand-built from a storage container and is situated within the sunflower fields at Houlden Farm.

The Sunflower Shanty features a wood-fired pizza oven with rotating flatbread pizza offerings ranging from the Jay’s Heart -- Flatbread Company’s take on a classic red sauce with cheese -- to a Buffalo Chicken Flatbread with housemade buttermilk ranch. All flatbreads are made with organic, all-natural ingredients with a strong emphasis on sustainable sourcing and seasonality. A rotating draft list highlights local brewers, including Greater Good, Carson’s Hard Cider and more. Wine and canned hard seltzers are also be available.

Located at 139 Old Westboro Road in North Grafton, Houlden Farm features family-friendly attractions, including a playground, farm animals, pick-your-own fruit, and seasonal activities like a pumpkin patch and corn maze. An onsite farm stand is open seasonally as well, selling local produce, protein and baked goods. Houlden Farm’s food truck, Seed to Table, will continue to operate throughout the summer as well.

Opened in the Boston Landing neighborhood in 2019, Flatbread Company Brighton features nine bowling lanes and two primitive clay ovens dishing out hearth-cooked pizzas. The team behind Flatbread Company recently announced plans to open a location within forthcoming development, The Cove, on Green Street in Worcester.

The Sunflower Shanty at Houlden Farm is open on Fridays from 5pm to 9pm, Saturdays from 11am to 9pm, and Sundays from 11am to 6pm, weather depending.
