DUI Checkpoint To Be Held In Worcester County

Massachusetts State Police said a drunk-driving checkpoint will be held somewhere in Worcester Oct. 13.

Massachusetts State Police conducts a drunk-driving checkpoint somewhere in Worcester County on Saturday, Oct. 13.

The roadblock will be held the night of Oct. 13 and stretch into the early hours of Sunday. The exact location and time frame of the checkpoint were not divulged, per state police policy.

"The purpose is to further educate the motoring public and strengthen the public's awareness to the need of detecting and removing those motorists who operate under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs from our roadways," State Police Colonel Kerry Gilpin said in a statement. "It will be operated during varied hours, the selection of vehicles will not be arbitrary, safety will be assured, and any inconveniences to motorists will be minimized with advance notice to reduce fear and anxiety."
