Fuel Truck Down Embankment, Gas Spill, In Northbridge

A strike tanker team responded to a Hazmat situation in which a 10,000 gallon fuel truck tipped. By 3:30 p.m., cleanup still continued.

NORTHBRIDGE, MA—Emergency crews spent the day cleaning up a scene in which a tractor-trailer hit two parked cars, causing a leak in the trailer on Monday morning. The driver blames a spilled coffee, according to reports.

The 10,000 gallon fuel truck slid down an embankment in Northbridge, and a strike tanker team responded to the accident before 9 a.m. Monday, according to online scanner reports. The truck went down an embankment at 171 Linwood Ave. in Northbridge. There were no reported injuries and it was not leaking, initially.

At 3:30 p.m. on Monday, reports indicated that the tractor trailer was still in the same position it was when it initially crashed.

The incident wrap-up continued, with a number of the strike force units released. An estimated 100 gallons of gas was spilled during the incident, according to several online reports.

By 5 p.m., the scene had been cleared. Police told WBZ-News that the driver was distracted by his spilled coffee, causing him to lose control.
