Gomez Wins Grafton, Loses State

The Republican took home nearly 2,000 votes in the special Senate Election.

With 3,215 voters heading to the polls, Grafton picked Republican Gabriel Gomez over Democrat Ed Markey in the special Senate election.

Gomez won 1,967 votes, or 61 percent of the total votes in town, compared to Markey's 1,237. Richard Heos got 5 votes from Grafton residents.

In the end it Gomez's victories in Grafton and other towns weren't enough to carry him to victory. The race was called in favor of Ed Markey just after 9 p.m.
