Grafton Coronavirus: 1 New Case Tuesday

GRAFTON, MA — One new diagnosis on Tuesday brought the total number of cases of the new coronavirus in Grafton to 67, the town announced in a news release.

Public health officials in the town are working with recently-diagnosed individuals and will contact anyone who could have been exposed to the virus, the town said.

Here's what else Grafton residents should know amid the new coronavirus:

Real Estate and Personal Property Taxes:

Grafton's select board also voted recently to extend the due date of real estate and personal property taxes until June 1. Interest on late payments will be waived until June 29, the town said.

June 23 Election:

To request a mail-in ballot for the June 23 election, residents should download a request form online. Questions should be directed to the Town Clerk at clerks@graftonma.gov or 508-839-5335, ext. 1195.

Reopening:

Gov. Charlie Baker earlier this week announced he is rolling out a four-part plan to reopen the state's economy, but specific details remain vague.

Baker said businesses set to open in the first phase will be ones that "don't have a lot of face-to-face interaction with customers as part of their regular business."

May 18 is when the stay-at-home advisory and closure of nonessential businesses expire. It's also when the state's reopening advisory board will issue a report detailing what is hoped to be a safe reopening of the economy.
