
(James) Michael Higgins, age 59, of Swansea, passed away on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 peacefully at home. Born in Fall River, a son of the late Harold Joseph and Mary Alice (Brazil) Higgins, he lived in Swansea most of his life.
Michael was a 1976 graduate of Diman Regional Vocational Technical High School with a concentration in auto mechanics. He enjoyed his passion as a self-employed mechanic. He was an avid New England sports fan and especially favored the New England Patriots. He lived life with a humorous attitude and you could always count on him telling jokes and always being willing to help a friend out.
He was loved by many, most recently by his girlfriend, Trinity Black, who filled the last of his days with joy. Along with many friends, Michael’s dog was certainly this man's best friend. Shadow and Mike were inseparable, by each other’s side till the end.

He is survived by one daughter, Melinda J. (Higgins) Springer, her husband, Noah Springer and four grandchildren: Lillian Lowe, Lucas Lowe, Logan James Springer, and Penelope Springer of Grafton, MA. He was the brother of Patrick, William/Doris, Jeffrey, and Donna Higgins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Monday January 8th at 10:00 am at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 530 Gardner's Neck Road, Swansea. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Fall River. Calling hours: Sunday January 7th from 4-7 pm at the Waring-Sullivan Home of Memorial Tribute at Birchcrest, 189 Gardner’s Neck Road, Swansea. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to your local POW/MIA chapters.
