Metal Found In Halloween Candy: PD Asks Parents To Inspect

A small metal object was found in a piece of Now and Later candy from a Sturbridge trick-or-treater.

STURBRIDGE, MA—Sturbridge police have issued a call out to residents and parents, urging them to check their kid's Halloween candy after a small piece of metal was found in a piece of it.

Police said that a resident visited the department on Thursday to report that they had found a "small metal object" in a Now and Later candy.

"It is unknown at this time if the piece of metal was intentionally placed in the candy or it was a manufacturing defect," said Sturbridge police.

The person who reported the incident said that their child went trick-or-treating in the Heritage Green complex in Fiskdale. Police are contacting the FDA and the candy manufacturer.
