Winter Storm Warning For Grafton

The National Weather service has issued a winter storm warning, predicting heavy snow for Grafton and the surrounding area between 7 a.m. today and 1 p.m. Friday.

Heavy, wet snow and strong winds are expected to adversely impact travel, particularly Thursday night into Friday morning.

A snow accumulation of 4 to 8 inches is expected.

A winter storm warning is issued when 6 or more inches of snow is expected within a 12 hour period, or 8 or more inches are expected in 24 hours.

The National Weather Service on Wednesday afternoon upgraded its advisory from a winter storm watch to a winter storm warning, indicating the storm was imminent.

Forecasters are advising drivers that the roads will become slippery overnight, and strong winds could result in power outages.

National Grid issued a press release Wednesday indicating the company has already secured more than 230 contractor line crews to assist company crews in restoring power. In addition, approximately 190 tree crews will be on hand to assist in clearing trees that might keep the line crews from accessing downed electrical equipment.
