The Community House Announces Rolling Block Party Parade

All are invited to this socially distanced parade through Hamilton and Wenham.

Hamilton, Mass. — The Community House (TCH) in Hamilton is pleased to announce its “Rolling Block Party,” a socially distanced parade through the heart of Hamilton and Wenham, to be held on August 29 (rain date, August 30) from 3:00-5:30 p.m. This parade will delight adults and children alike with music, movement, and more as it passes through neighborhoods in Hamilton and Wenham. The Salem Five Charitable Foundation and Cole Landscaping are sponsoring the event.

Audiences will enjoy performances and appearances by:

  • Katie Clarke and guest stars from Stage 284
  • Music Man Brian Doser
  • Elsa and Kristoff from Frozen
  • Flounder from The Little Mermaid
  • Mary Poppins
  • Miss Essex County
  • Rep. Brad Hill
  • antique cars
  • fire trucks
  • local police
  • and more to be announced soon

The parade is a creative transformation of TCH's traditional block party. For the past ten summers, The Community House has hosted a family fun day at Patton Park, which attracts thousands of families for games, food and fireworks. Given the restrictions due to the current pandemic, the TCH team knew they couldn't bring the community together in one place. However, building community felt more important than ever, so they decided to take the party on the road.

While the event promises to be fun, The Community House is prioritizing safety. "This is a socially-distanced event," said TCH Executive Director Melissa Elmer, "so all performers and participants will be required to stay 6-12 feet apart, depending on their chosen activity."

Everyone is also welcome to join the parade. Registered participants can bike, hop, walk or ride the route. To reserve your spot in the parade, contact Gail Horsman Lull (gail@communityhouse.org).

The parade will begin at 3:00 p.m. from the Hamilton-Wenham Regional High School. Details about the 6-mile route will be posted on The Community House website (www.communityhouse.org) prior to the event.
