Hamilton Police Honor Fallen Auburn Officer At Annual Memorial
The service was held at Hamilton Cemetery on Sunday.
The Hamilton Police Dept. honored fallen Auburn Police Officer Ronald Tarentino on Sunday as part of their annual Police Memorial. Hamilton officers, along with their families and others that appreciate their service, paid their respects at Hamilton Cemetery with a service.
Tarentino was shot and killed in the line of duty shortly after midnight on Sunday, May 22 during a traffic stop.
The killing sparked a manhunt for the suspect, which ended in a violent confrontation in Oxford with the suspect shot and killed.

Officer Ronald Tarentino is survived by his wife and their three children.
Hamilton Officer Michael Girolimon lead the service that included several guest speakers, including an invocation delivered by Pastor Kevin Baird, a necrology read by Hamilton Officer Michael P. Wetson, and a speech by Hamilton Police Chief Russell Stevens.

Stevens went on to say that 139 police officers nationwide were killed in the line of duty in 2015, and there have been 37 fatalities so far in 2016.
The ceremony concluded with a three-volley salute firing by an honor guard and the daughters of fallen Sgt. Lester D. Charles laying of a wreath on the memorial for Hamilton Police Officers.
