“Wilber’s War: An American Family's Journey Through World War II

Thursday, August 3

The Community House in Hamilton

Wilber’s War is a deeply personal story of one family and the impact of the war on a soldier fighting in the Pacific theater during World War II and his family on the home front. This staged book talk on Thursday, August 3, 7:30 p.m. with award winning actor J.T. Turner, is an epic tale of duty, heroism, love, infidelity and the tragedy of suicide.

Author Hale Brandt of Salem has written a story that will resonate with any family that has sent a son, daughter, spouse or parent off to war. He has worked closely with director Myriam Cyr of the Black Box Lab at Stage 284 to craft an insightful performance that goes beyond the World War II time period to touch on the complexities of war that our society faces even today. It is ultimately a human story and a tragedy.

The story, originally based on a series of detailed letters written by Brandt’s father Norman, has been thoroughly researched to provide a fresh perspective on this momentous time period and those ordinary people that fought abroad and to preserve a family back home.

“Wilber’s War reconfirms that there are no small stories of life.” said Cyr. “It is an astonishing account of one family during war.”

A professor of physics at MIT, Hale Brandt is also a Navy veteran that served during the Korean War. He will be available for questions following the staged presentation.

This singular performance, produced and presented by the Black Box Lab at Stage 284, on August 3 @ 7:30 p.m. will be at The Community House, 284 Bay Rd., Hamilton, MA. Tickets are $5. The theater offers free parking, air conditioning and is handicapped accessible.

Tickets: Through Brown Paper Tickets @ www.wilburswar.bpt.me/, stage284.org or purchase tickets at the door.
