For Sale: MA Mansion Of CEO Of One Of World's Oldest Companies

COHASSET, MA — Have you ever heard of the Avedis Zildjian Company? Likely not unless you're a musician or business historian. But the cymbal manufacturer is actually one of the oldest companies in the world, and it's based right here in Massachusetts.

The company's CEO, Craigie Zildjian, this month put her Cohasset mansion up for sale. The beautiful home, first built in 1900 in Little Harbor and just having undergone top-to-bottom renovations, is going for $4,999,000. The home was purchased by the family in 1987 for $875,000.

The company's extensive history is hard to even fathom. According to realtor.com, Avedis Zildjian I started the business in Constantinople in 1623. It was in Turkey for centuries, until the family moved it to Quincy in 1929.

The company was based in Turkey for centuries, and moved to the U.S. in the early part of the 20th century. Zildjian family members who had emigrated to America incorporated the business in Quincy, MA, in 1929. In 1987, the family purchased this Little Harbor home for $875,000.

The home sale doesn't necessarily mean the family-owned business will change hands anytime soon: Craigie and sister Debbie are the 14th generation to run it.
