EMC Restructuring Will Cut 1,000 Worldwide Jobs
The cuts are reportedly part of of an $80 million cost reduction plan.

Hopkinton-based EMC is planning to cut more than 1,000 jobs in an effort to streamline the company’s focus and workforce according to a recent article in the Boston Globe.
The current restructuring is part of a longstanding practice by EMC to continually retool its workforce and business focus, spokeswoman Lesley Ogrodnick told the Globe.
“As EMC has been transforming our business, we have had ongoing rebalancing efforts,” she said.

Although it's not all bad news according to Orgodnick, the Globe reports she said the company will end the year with more employees than they had at the beginning of the year.
