Holliston Added To List Of 'High Risk' Virus Communities

There were 16 COVID-19 cases in Holliston in the past 14 days, bringing the total number of cases to 93.

HOLLISTON, MA — Holliston was bumped onto the list of "high risk" communities for COVID-19. Holliston is now considered a "red zone" and is one of 15 cities and towns across the state where new cases have been rising quickly.

Data released by the Department of Public Health on Wednesday showed Holliston saw 8.3 cases per day on average over the last two weeks. There were 16 active COVID-19 cases in Holliston in the past 14 days, bringing the total number of cases to 93.

Holliston has tested a total of 5,362 people, with 922 of those tests being done in the last two weeks.

Health officials say positive test results need to stay below 5 percent for two weeks or longer and, preferably, be closer to 2 percent, for states to safely ease restrictions.

Holliston is not alone in the area in this category. Worcester, Framingham and Marlborough are also on the high-risk list.
