Hopkinton Main Street Corridor Project Bid Process Underway

The Main Street Corridor Project aims to improve roadway safety for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as to reduce congestion.

HOPKINTON, MA — Hopkinton’s Main Street Corridor Improvement Project has now entered the Massachusetts Department of Transportation (MassDOT) bid process.

The Main Street Corridor Project aims to improve roadway safety for vehicles, bicyclists and pedestrians, as well as to reduce congestion.

“We are proud of the efforts by the Town’s project team that have brought the project to its next phase where it will be managed by MassDOT from bidding through construction,” said Town Manager Norman Khumalo. “On the town side, we will continue to advocate for the will of the Town Meeting that approved the project.”

The bid process began with the advertisement for the project by MassDOT on June 27. From there, VHB, the town’s Design Consultant, will be working closely over the next month or so with the town and MassDOT to coordinate the next steps in the bid process. A tentative date for the bid opening, where proposals submitted to MassDOT by contractors will be reviewed, is currently scheduled for August 11.

Once the bid process is complete, MassDOT will award the project so construction can be scheduled and a construction start date will be announced. A press release will be sent out by the town to announce the selected contractor and the proposed start date.
